Bio

As the younger brother of controversial rap star YNW Melly, BSlime found hip-hop at a very young age. “I was like six years old and my brother would bring me into his room, open his composition book, and we would write songs together,” he recalls. The thrill of helping his big brother craft hooks was a big draw to little BSlime making music, so one day Melly decided it was go time. “My brother came to me and said, ‘Okay, put the video games down. We’re going to the studio,’” BSlime says. The offer came at a price, where if he didn’t head to the studio, his credit card for buying V-Bucks on Fortnite would be cut off.

Naturally, they were bound for Miami, and once BSlime saw the bright lights, big speakers, and felt the cold air of the studio, he knew that it would one day be his second home. His brother named him “YNW BSlime” initially as his Instagram name, keeping the YNW crew tag intact, but adding B for his first name (Brandon) and Slime at the end. The Slime would later follow him throughout his creative endeavors.

He dropped his first project Baby Goat independently in 2019, the title being a nod to his dreams of being crowned the G.O.A.T. one day. Songs like “Hot Sauce” and “Slime Emotions” moved the needle, but his cut “Slime Dreams” really broke through, cracking the 20 million mark on YouTube alone. “I remember I released the song, went to sleep, woke up and it was at a million,” he says emphatically. “Then I went out for ice cream, came back and it was at 1.5 million!” The shift began to happen where BSlime was no longer seen as the younger brother of YNW Melly, but the architect of his own hits. “At summer camp, the kids came up to me and said, ‘You’re the kid who made “Hot Sauce!”’,” he adds. “It was cool being known for my own music.”

The hits didn’t stop there, as “Just Want You” showed YNW BSlime’s knack for creating radio hits. It’s a combination of youthful innocence and authenticity that has moved him steadily up the ranks as one of hip-hop’s brightest new stars. With Slime Fever, he’s keeping the momentum going, bringing tracks that delve into his teenage mind—from love songs to fun tracks and thoughtful ones.

Now 13 years old, YNW BSlime has moved beyond his brother’s shadow and forged his own path, with a fan base eager to hear what’s next. While his youthful goal is for Platinum records, he is wise beyond his years when it comes to watching his success story unfold. “I feel like I’m blessed,” he says matter-of-factly. “I don’t take any of this for granted.
